The Course

Growing up comes with a lot of changes, and it’s completely normal to have questions. In these five modules, we’ll talk about things like periods, body changes, and how to take care of yourself along the way.

Module 1:

Introduction To Women's Health

What is puberty?

Discuss the definition of puberty and the biological function of it. 

Physical & Emotional Changes

Discuss growth spurts, changes in physical features, body hair. Also discuss mood swings, self-identity, anxiety, and strong emotions.

Activity

Icebreaker: write one question/fear about puberty (anonymous) and then discuss as a group

Module 2:

Menstrual Health

In Module 2, we will discuss menstrual health, including topics like:

  • Biology

  • Tracking cycles

  • Addressing myths/stigmas around menstrual health

We will also create a period calendar to track menstrual cycles. 

The goal of this module is to make girls more comfortable with their menstrual cycles by giving them more information about it.

Module 3:

Hormonal Changes & Well Being

Hormones

  • What are hormones?

  • What do they do? 

  • What is their role in puberty?

Emotional Changes

  • Coping Mechanisms

  • Stress Management

  • Self Care

Stress Journaling

Module 4:

Hygiene & Nutrition

Module 4 discusses the importance of hygiene, including topics like the importance of bathing, oral care, hand washing, and more. We also discuss the importance of nutrition, food groups, the importance of balanced diets, and the importance of hydration. We also discuss common myths about hygiene and nutrition. Students can ask anonymous questions about hygiene and nutrition. 

Module 5:

Cultural Sensitivity & Breaking Stigmas

This is a question and answer based module where we discuss culturally sensitive ways to approach the topics of menstrual health and hygiene. We also discuss myths and stigmas around these topics.
